One more question: Why the interest? Well, The star tells me, “Any time you can give back or help protect our nation’s parks, that’s a good thing. Growing up near the Smokey Mountains — or spending as much time in the [U.S. Virgin Islands] as I do — you realize what a resource it is for all of us. No matter who you are, what you do, that beauty is all of ours to enjoy — to go camping, hiking, to sail in — and that undeveloped land is a gift. But it’s a gift to maintain. The idea people could buy tickets for my movie, and a dollar from each ticket will help maintain the parks, made me really happy. I know a lot of people are gonna see it, [and] they can also help the National Parks Conservation Association raise $50,000 to get us started on this partnership.”

The singer, 42, just announced a partnership with Nature Valley to raise up to $500,000 for the National Parks Conservation Association to preserve America’s national parks and fund restoration projects at the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Biscayne National Parks.

For January through March, comScore’s net income dropped to $229,000, or 1 cent per share, from $277,000, or 1 cent per share, in the same period last year.

The company said in a statement that demand was high for its Web audience measurement service from clients in consumer packaged goods, Levis pharmaceuticals, financial services and the telecommunications industry.

RESTON, Va. – ComScore Inc., a research firm that Levis tracks Web traffic, said Wednesday that its first-quarter earnings fell 17 percent, hurt by rising expenses.

On a per-share basis, that matches what analysts were expecting on average, according to Thomson Reuters.

Revenue increased 18 percent to $36.1 million from $30.6 million and beat the $35.3 million Wall Street had forecast.

But an 18 percent jump in operating expenses weighed down its results.

For the current second quarter, comScore said it expects revenue of $39.1 million to $40.2 million. Analysts are predicting $38.4 million.
